Introduction: There is in general a lack of good scientific data available on artificial turf
(and natural) system engineering behaviour. The plethora of surface system test methods
remains a long way short of replicating even simple human movement and loading patterns.
In most player movement studies reported the surface system is poorly described or
not controlled such that the data do not add to understanding how surface system response
mechanism are mobilized to provide the measured reaction forces or the observed kinematic
adjustments.
